Island clay ornaments are hand made unique souvenir from the island of Hvar. I have chosen three most common motives from the island and printed on a clay. The chosen ones are: lavender, lace and fig leaf. After prints clay needs to dry well and later its painted and glazed. Using white and red clay, jute rope, colours and wooden beads.
Every ornament is a diameter of 8 centimetre. In each box with an ornament there are few words about the motives (lavender, lace or fig leaf). It comes nicely packed in cardboard box with window – natural style, size of: 11,7 cm x 10,4 cm x 2,4 cm. It is small and easy to pack in your luggage or just sent directly to your home, family or friends.
LAVENDER ORNAMENTS
In each box with a lavender ornament there is a note: “Hvar is known as the Lavender island. The Lavender is grown on the hills and rocky slopes of the island of Hvar since 1928th. Their magic and scent are breathtaking, and the time to see them in full bloom is mid-June to early July. “
Lavender ornament is made of white clay and can be white (clay) coloured with lavender frost and rose gold colours.
LACE ORNAMENTS
In each box with a lace ornament there is a note: “The unique lace has been made by Benedictine nuns in Hvar for more than 150 years ago from agave thread. Lace is a unique art object and a part of World inheritance listed on the UNESCO. Rule of St. Benedict: “Ora et Labora.”
Lace ornament is made of white clay and can be in following colours: white, aquamarine, lavender frost and antique bronze colours.
FIG LEAF ORNAMENTS
In each box with a fig leaf ornament there is a note: “There were two trees in paradise – the fig tree (the tree of truth) and the olive tree (the tree of life). The whole island of Hvar is one big green garden full of plants and trees. After the olive, the fig is the most widespread fruit.”
Fig leaf ornament is made of white or red clay and can be in following colours: white (clay) and on red clay coloured with white and emerald colours.
